- 1 box white cake mix (15.25–18.25 oz)
- 1¼ cups water
- ⅓ cup vegetable oil
- 3 egg whites
- ¼ cup funfetti sprinkles (jimmies)
- Red food coloring (gel-based preferred)
- 2–3 drops raspberry or vanilla candy oil (optional)
- Cupcake liners
- Piping or zip-top bags
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line cupcake pan with liners.
- Mix cake mix, water, oil, and egg whites until smooth.
- Fold in sprinkles gently.
- Divide batter: keep 2/3 white, color the rest pink, then deepen part to red.
- Pipe white batter into liners 1/3 full. Add red, then pink layers using piping bags.
- Bake 15–20 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool 5 minutes in pan, then transfer to a wire rack. Frost when completely cool.
Notes
- Use gel food coloring to prevent watering down the batter.
- Heart sprinkles or stars work well for seasonal decorating.
- Store in airtight container up to 3 days, or freeze unfrosted.
