These soft, chewy Patriotic Chocolate Chip Cookies are perfect for 4th of July, Memorial Day, or any festive summer gathering. Easy to make, hard to resist, and always a crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients
- 2¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- ½ cup white sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- ¾ cup red, white, and blue chocolate candies (plus more for topping)
- ½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream together butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Whisk flour, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl and gradually add to wet mixture.
- Fold in chocolate chips, candies, and optional walnuts.
- Scoop dough onto baking sheets, press candies on top.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes or until edges are golden.
- Cool on sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire rack.
Notes
- Chill dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies.
- Store in an airtight container with a slice of bread to keep cookies soft.
