Ingredients

For the Donuts:

  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ¾ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • ¾ cup cake flour
  • ¾ cup wheat flour (all-purpose)
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1215 fresh strawberries (about 1 cup puree)

For the Glaze:

  • 11.5 cups powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons milk (or water)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a donut pan.
  2. Blend the strawberries into a chunky puree.
  3. Cream butter, sugar, and egg in a mixing bowl until fluffy.
  4. Add vanilla, buttermilk, and strawberry puree and stir gently.
  5. Sift in the dry ingredients (cake flour, wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt). Mix lightly—do not overmix.
  6. Pipe the batter into the prepared donut molds, filling each one halfway.
  7. Bake for 7–8 minutes until lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool the donuts on a wire rack before glazing.
  9. Make the glaze by mixing powdered sugar with milk until smooth.
  10. Dip or drizzle the donuts with the glaze and let it set.
